Asagaya Staccato is a hidden gem of a club which offers live music most evenings, and always on the weekends. It’s a small place right across the street from Asagaya Station on the sixth floor of a narrow building. You’ll miss it if you don’t see the small red sign, so good luck. The ground floor of the building has a Cozy Corner, and the elevator is to the side. Even still, I passed by twice before I figured it out.

It's worth the time, though as the interior is sleek, soothing, and welcoming. Staccato features an excellent selection of great liquors, especially top-shelf whiskey, exotic rum, and small-batch gin. If you don’t see what you like, ask for what’s not on the menu.

The sound system is pristine and the chairs comfortable. In between live performances, there is a solid selection of recorded music. The club has small snacks to go with the drinks, but not much food. That’s fine since the surrounding streets of Asagaya offer plenty to choose from.

Lovely clubs like this one are always a delight, and something special about Tokyo. Asagaya Staccato is even more special.
